As the saying goes, ‘El exito llama al exito’ – Nothing succeeds like success, and with successful projects on the A27 near Tarragona and N-209 near Huesca, Spanish new boys Fatlum S.L, certainly seem to have caught the eye of European Concrete Paving Association, Eupave. As part of their regular industry updates, Eupave – who promote all aspects of cement and concrete products to the transport infrastructure and related areas – have highlighted Fatlum after their achievement in becoming Spain’s first In-situ CE Marked concrete step barrier constructor.
To refer to the company as ‘New Boys’ is of course undoubtedly a little harsh, despite being created in 2014 to innovate the area of road safety in Spain, the assembled team has more than 20 years of experience in the field. After engaging in the BBS Fast-track service and becoming a Fully Licenced Installer, the Spanish outfit signed an agreement with Britpave Barrier Systems Ltd (trading as BBS Barriers) in December 2014 to commercialize the Concrete Step Barrier in Spain.
From impressive industrial premises located in Ajalvir (Madrid), to alliances with the Spanish Institute for Concrete and its Applications (IECA) and Díez y Compañía, S.A., and providing the recognised quality assurance that comes with a CE mark, their goal – to be recognized for providing solutions to different scenarios and to continue being the territorial industry leader in these sectors – would appear more than possible.
It is for certain that as the landscape of the Spanish Transport Infrastructure is reinvented with more comfortable, high capacity highways that link important cities and towns, and reports suggesting that 85% of retention barriers in Spain are metallic – in addition to a required estimate of 1000 km of concrete barrier that will provide reduction of routine repairs, traffic delays, congestion, and accident risks associated with these operations – it may be more than just Eupave with eyes on the ‘New Boys’…
Viva Fatlum!
