The Highways Agency in England has issued their latest Interim Advice Note (IAN) for the use and application of in-situ concrete barriers on their network – IAN 186/15.

This update is following the recent ruling made the European Commission that in-situ concrete barriers based on a commercialised proprietary design, must be CE marked in accordance with EN1317-5 under the Construction Products Regulation 305-2011 (CPR).

This means that any in-situ concrete safety barrier that is a proprietary design used for commercial use must carry a CE mark before it can be accepted for use on England’s roads and motorways.
