The recent workshop “Concrete Safety Barriers: A Lifetime of Safety” organised by EUPAVE, has been hailed a success by Managing Director, Luc Rens. The event, held in Brussels in March, was supported by several EUPAVE members and numerous guest speakers.
BBS Technical Sales Manager and Chair of the In-Situ Concrete Barrier Working Group, Dean Courtney-Ward, described the event as “valuable and insightful”, with concrete barrier related-presentations on CE marking and European Standards, Quality Management, Life Cycle Costs, Durability, Market Trends, and the role of the European Road Federation. The theme of the event emphasized that in-situ concrete barrier have been, are currently being, and will continue to be CE marked under EU legislation.
Luc Rens personally commended Dean for his excellent presentation. He stated “Judging from the comments of the participants, the event was very successful. Most of the credit goes to you and the other speakers who took the time to present their thoughts on CE-marking, the life cycle cost of concrete safety barriers, their durability and their construction by slipform paving. We really appreciate the time and effort you took to share your knowledge. Thank you for your valuable contribution.”
