All BBS Highway Barriers (in-situ concrete and steel) are fully compliant with EN1317-5 and hold EC Certificates of Conformity. CE marking provides the assurance that the product that is installed is the same as the product that was tested.

BBS operates its licensing schemes around the requirements laid down by CE marking, so all of our installers must undertake a minimum of one Factory Production Control (FPC) Audit per year and maintain accurate and comprehensive procedures and quality controls in order to maintain their licence and compliancy.

BBS Licensees are responsible for affixing the CE mark to BBS products, and ensuring that only quality products are supplied. CE marking became mandatory across the whole of Europe on 1st July 2013 under the new Construction Products Regulation 305/2011 (CPR).

It is a BBS requirement that all Licensed Installers must CE mark all barriers.

European Commission clarifies position on CE marking for In-situ concrete road barriers.

To address fears from manufacturers that their proprietary in-situ products were not being discriminated against with regard to CE marking, the European Commission Director General has taken the opportunity to clarify their position despite the issue being legally and technically complex. Their position was stated as “the EC services consider that in-situ concrete road barriers based on a proprietary design which are commercialised as products to be installed on the road are construction products under the CPR and covered by EN 1317-5:2007+A2:20I2.” In addition,  the European Commission’s reasoning was presented in the Annex to the letter giving detailed technical and legal arguments.
