A-one+, a joint venture of Halcrow, Colas and Costain has had its contract renewed to look after motorways and trunk roads in Highways England’s Area 12, Yorkshire and Humberside.
The new asset support contract, which runs for five years from 7th June 2016, sees A-one+ providing routine highway maintenance services, emergency incident response and severe weather services, as well as renewal and small scale improvement projects, on the Yorkshire and Humber strategic road network.
New terms in the contract, valued at £453m, require A-one+ to give greater focus on combining routine maintenance work with projects to minimise the impact on the travelling public, and to deliver better value for money.
Highways England service delivery team leader for Yorkshire and the Humber, Roger Wantling, said: “This new way of working will allow us build on what we have already committed on Yorkshire’s motorways and major A roads. The new contract model will focus on safety, keeping our network in a good, safe and serviceable condition while offering value for money to our customers, as well as putting our customers and partners at the heart of what we do.”
A-one+ Area 12 general manager Brian Statham said: “This gives us a great opportunity to build on the achievements of the last contract, working collaboratively with safety, customer and delivery at the forefront in everything we do”.
